Congress Co-Chairs Greetings

Abstract

The Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO) is holding its 31st Biennial Congress on July 29 -August 1, 2009 ii, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The Congress brings together Optometrists in Canada as well as optometric staff, families and ochers in the sector. The program includes business meetings, continuing education, a large OPTOFAIR (100 booths) and a social program. CAO expects over 600 optometrists and 1,000 delegates in total.

Notable events in the Congress include: CAO President's Cup Golf Tournament, Opening Ceremonies, CAO General Business Meeting and the President's Banquet and Ball. The Banquet and Ball is when delegates recognize the outgoing CAO President, President's Award recipient, Honorary members and other VIPs.

Because the CAO Congress is the only national optometric event, it has historically been an opportunity for class reunions, an enjoyable tradition. There is also an exceptional continuing education program for optometrists and optometric staff featuring internationally renowned lecturers. Family members also have a full program including activities for children.

The organizing committee has an incredible schedule of events planned for delegates and is confident that it will be one of the best Congresses ever held!
