The Effect of Oxidative Disinfecting Systems on Tinted Hydrogel Lenses

A wide variety of tinted hydrogel contact lenses availnble on the Canadian market were evaluated in vitro for their ability to maintain their tint after disinfection with OPTI-TAB™ chlorine tablets or the OXYSEPT™ hydrogen peroxide system.
Spectrophotometric evaluation in the wet state showed that all lenses were virtllally unaffected by 45 cycles of hydrogen peroxide disinfection and by 90 cycles of chlorine tablet disinfection.
