President's Podium: A new responsibility for Canadian Optometry

Abstract

In the last few years, we have seen and shared in Optometry's efforts to battle many external events: partial or complete deinsurance of vision care services by provincial governments; attempts by various corporate interests to control the profession; challenges hy dispens­ing opticians; changes in provincial health acts and interpretations by the courts that have only served to hinder our evolution.
