Résumé

Myopia, a condition in which the image falls short of the retina, has been, and continues to be a major human visual concern. After decades of limited and controversial experimental attention, a number of recent studies have demonstrated the possibility of inducing myopia in a variety of animals. The rapid growth and development of the chick make it an ideal model for this type of study. Experimentally induced myopia in chicks provides a laboratory based model for the study of normal and abnormal post-hatching development of the refractive properties of the eye.
