Abstract

The effects on visual field of several skaters’·masks used in ice hockey were determined using a modified Goldmann perimeter. A new polycarbonate shield caused essentially no field impairment, but all the cage masks tested altered visual fields to some degree. producing multiple monocular central scotomas corresponding to intersections of individual bars. They did not, however, constrict the overall visual field, and the small central scotomas from the two eyes did not overlap.
