DB, a 51-year-old Caucasian female, was referred for a binocular vision assessment in July 1992. Her chief visual complaint was intermittent horizontal diplopia at distance only, which began one month earlier. No other symptoms were reported and no medications were being taken. A recent physical examination had revealed no health problems. DB reported that she had been in a car accident five years earlier, which resulted in nerve damage to her left arm and hand. had been in a car accident five years earlier. which resulted in nerve damage to her left arm and hand. She experienced similar diplopia subsequent to her accident for two to three months, after which time the diplopia resolved.
