Dapiprazole, an alpha adrenergic blocking drug, as an alternative miotic to pilocarpine or moxisylyte (thymoxamine) for reversing tropicamide mydriasis

Résumé

La dapiprazole est un miotique mis au point en Italie et récemment commercialise aux Etats-Unis. Son mécanisme d'action ferait appel au blocage des récepteurs adrénergiques postsynaptiques sur le muscle dilatateur de l’iris. La pharmacocinétique de façon de ce médicament sur la pupille chez I’homme fait l’objet d’un examen, et on discute de son utilisation potentielle pour inverser une dilatation diagnostique de la pupille provoquée par le tropicamide. Son efficacité est comparée à celle de la pilocarpine et un autre inhibiteur adrénergique la moxisylyte (thymoxamine).
