Résumé

La technique du regard préférentiel mesure efficacement l'acuité visuelle des jeunes enfants et des individus handicapes intellectuellement. Le stimulus utilise fait appel à des mécanismes de résolution et ne nécessite aucune réponse verbale de la part du sujet. Les méthodes de regard préférentiel conventionnelles s'adressent davantage à la recherche et aux milieux institutionnels. L’instrumentation est plus encombrante et la rigueur statistique inhérente à l'obtention des seuils contribue à alourdir le processus. Les cardes d’acuité de Teller sont très intéressantes sur le plan clinique. Elles sont très maniables et Les valeurs d’acuité visuelle peuvent être obtenues en mains de cinq minutes. Dans leur version originale, elles n'offrent cependant pas la rigueur statistique des méthodes conventionnelles.
